I often have people ask me why rescues charge so much more for their dogs than shelters do. When you adopt from a rescue we already know the temperament of the dog you will be adopting. As far as Tired Dog Rescue, once a dog is brought into our rescue it immediately receives a full medical exam and any treatment and/or surgeries prior to being ready for adoption. We do this all without knowing whether or not that dog will ever be adopted. If you compare what we charge for fees, $150-$300, you will notice that we lose money on just about every dog. One way you can help offset this cost is by donation. Every little bit helps, there is no such thing as a donation too small or too big.
Here is just a quick look at some of the prices we pay for medical care and supplies.
Prices may vary depending on vet and area.
